So, here in Alvin, Texas, we have been having daily downpours, thunderstorms, and rising waters in the yards and streets–all this as the “feels like”/humidity temps reach 101 degrees in the afternoons. Despite all this, I am keeping busy and having the time of my life!

Last weekend, a friend took me to Houston to visit a bookstore on my Bookstore Bucket List. It’s called Murder by the Book, and all it sells are mysteries. I bought a Murder by the Book pin for my cap, an adult mystery and a YA mystery for Rae’s Lending Library at the Book Hub. We made a quick stop at the coffee shop next door, and I bought a special tea for a friend. We drove through Rice Village Shopping area and around Rice University, places I hadn’t been since before the pandemic, and then arrived… The Hobbit Cafe, a quiet, green, peaceful place in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown Houston. That was Friday. Saturday I hosted a book club for young mothers, started by one of my customers who has three children under 6 (I think they just want to get away from home for a couple of hours. LOL), but while they met, I read and even had a power-nap in the bedroom. We ALL had a wonderful time! Sunday RAE’S READS held a Plant and Seed Swap indoors; it was coming down ! And, yesterday, Monday, the BOOKWORMS club met here for a couple of hours with me trying to motivate the kids to read during the summer months. Soooo, yes, I have been busy, and with all the rain we’ve had the Busyness has kept me from, going Bonkers.

What are you doing this summer? Summer travel plans? Summer reading/writing goals? What about your kids/grandkids–what are you doing to prevent the Summer Slide that kids who have the whole summer off experience?
